Individual Therapy
Tweens & Teens (Ages 10-17)
My favorite population to work with! Finding the "right fit" for a therapist can be difficult at any age, but especially for tweens and teens who might already be feeling apprehensive about going to therapy. During the free consultation, I really like to take the time to get to know my teen clients outside of what they or their family feel is the "problem", and I welcome any questions that teens have for me! I recognize that these are some of the most challenging years of life and I'm here to help encourage, inspire, and support my teen clients through all of the frustrating obstacles life throws at them. I often work with teens on creating and maintaining healthy boundaries, building self-esteem and confidence, strengthening parent-child and sibling relationships, managing anxiety, ADHD/ADD, depression, and much more. I highly encourage, and in some case will require, family involvement when working with kiddos under 13.
Adults (Ages 18+)
Who says therapy always has to be dull talk therapy? I often propose more hands-on or imaginative exercises, even with my adult clients. This might look like starting session off with a meditation or mindfulness exercise, playing cards, doing crafts, or imaginative interventions. During our first session, I work with my clients to collaborate on creating a space that will feel most helpful in reaching their unique goals.
*While this is individual therapy, as a systemic family therapist, I happily support and encourage clients bringing in family members, friends, or other members of their unique system to help meet client goals.

Couple & Family Therapy
When working with couples and families, it's important to highlight that the "Relationship" is my client and not the individual members in the room. This means that I won't be picking sides throughout the therapy process. This DOESN'T mean that there won't be times where I might call out a behavior demonstrated by one person if I can see that it's causing harm to the relationship.
I take a very active approach when working with couples and families - often gently pausing clients to help each member to really hear what the other is saying, express underlying emotions, and uncover the meaning-making that each client has made of certain situations or re-occuring problems. I often bring in handouts and suggest small ‘homework’ assignments that focus on breaking patterns of unhelpful communication.
Early sessions with couples and families are spent getting to know each person in the room, mapping common patterns that play out within the relationship, and working to help each member identify their role in maintaining the current pattern. We can then work to collaborate on solutions to help break these patterns and strengthen the relationship.

Free Consultation
Therapy is most effective when you have a therapist who you feel truly understands you and just feels "right". I offer a free, 10-20 minute consultation meeting to all new clients to make sure that you feel that working with me is the right fit for you. If at any point you feel like you would benefit more from working with a different therapist, or if I feel like a more specialized therapist is needed - I'm happy to give you a referral to a trusted colleague who can help you reach your goals.
